Nourishing the heart with magic moments

I recall a hike with my husband in Romania where I first witnessed the captivating spectacle of spruce trees flowering, releasing a hazy cloud of yellow pollen – a beautiful act of propagation.

Recently, despite the somewhat unfortunate trimming of our magnificent spruces by the electric company, our tallest tree has gifted us with a new wonder this spring: vibrant baby red cones. This immense and resilient tree, even with a reduced crown, continues to emanate beauty and its characteristic therapeutic phytochemicals. These delicate cones were far beyond reach, high up in its branches.

Then, this morning, an almost magical occurrence unfolded. Not five minutes after I first noticed the beauty of these new cones, a tiny, perfect one lay on the ground, right at my feet. It felt like an invitation. I couldn't help but touch it, and yes, I even kissed it!

It was a moment of pure serendipity, a tangible piece of the tree's resilience and beauty brought right to me.
