It's been now 30 years since I chose a path in my life - the world of health and wellness.
Evolving, I came to the conclusion that all happened for a reason.
I was 14 years old when I decided to move into a high school dorm, unfortunately away from my family, to attend a high school program that was leading to a nursing degree.
Then, there was a new chapter - the Physical Therapy school /practice where not only I was part of the first Romanian National Congress for Physical Therapy in Oct 1998 but I was representing our country in Japan, Yokohama, at the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) in May 1999, flying the Romanian flag as we become members of the WCPT.
The same year I moved to the United States searching for a bigger world where I could have an impact on people's well-being. I was professionally driven.
After practicing Physical Therapy for over 15 years, I stood today in front of what is called " The New-Era Health".
I was in a state of great enthusiasm and eagerness.
Health is the top of people's priorities for their well-being, according to the OECD's How's Life? 2015 report.
Yet, 50% of U.S. adults are diagnosed with chronic illnesses.
As per Centers for Disease Control, 97.3% of U.S adults are not maintaining healthy habits including decent nutrition, adequate exercise, not smoking, healthy body composition.
A large gap exists between health care provider recommendations and sustainable health-related behavior change. Under Health and Wellness Coach Resolution, U.S House of Representatives now believe that health coaches serve a vital role in improving an individual's wellness, " there are an increasing number of studies that show the effectiveness of health and wellness coaches in improving individual health and wellness and reducing health care costs".
Everyone's purpose is to evolve.
In a world impacted by the accelerating technological changes, in every single department from the environment to the economy, evolution is an emergent process. Human evolution is a process of adaptation and transformation.
In health coaching we talk about the process of transformation, how to become the best version of ourselves. We are the supportive mentors helping clients feel their best through food and lifestyle changes by tailoring individualized wellness programs to meet our clients' needs.
Excited to soon come to an end of an exceptional year at IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition, NYC). I do well know that in every end, there is also a beginning.
